1. Scope of This Policy
This Refund & Cancellation Policy applies to purchases, subscriptions, enrollments, and other paid services offered by Next Step Credit under The Credit Builders brand.
This policy should be read together with our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy .
If a specific product, account agreement, enrollment agreement, subscription disclosure, or other service-specific document contains different terms, the terms presented for that particular service may apply to the extent permitted by applicable law.
2. Cancellation Requests
Customers may request cancellation of an eligible service by contacting info@thecreditbuilders.net .
Cancellation requests should include enough information for us to identify the customer and the applicable service, such as the customer's name, email address, and the service or subscription being cancelled.
A cancellation request does not automatically create a refund. Refund eligibility is determined under the applicable service terms and this policy.
If a service involves a recurring charge, customers should submit cancellation requests before the next scheduled billing date whenever possible. A cancellation request received after a charge has already been processed will be reviewed under the applicable refund terms.
3. Refunds
Refunds are not automatically available for every purchase or service. Eligibility may depend on the product purchased, whether the service has already been initiated or fulfilled, applicable service terms, and applicable law.
When a customer submits a refund request, we may review:
- The service or product purchased.
- The date and amount of the payment.
- Whether service fulfillment has begun.
- Whether the customer has already received the applicable service or deliverable.
- Whether the request involves a duplicate, erroneous, or unauthorized charge.
- Any service-specific refund terms presented at enrollment.
- Applicable legal or regulatory requirements.
Approved refunds will generally be returned to the original payment method used for the transaction unless another method is required or agreed upon.
4. Service-Specific Refund & Cancellation Terms
Different services may have different fulfillment timelines and therefore may be subject to different cancellation or refund treatment.
Credit Builder Accounts
Cancellation, account closure, payments, deposits, and any applicable refunds are governed by the account agreement and program terms provided during enrollment. Customers should review those terms before completing account setup.
Rent Reporting
Rent reporting services may involve setup, data review, reporting preparation, and ongoing reporting services. Cancellation and refund treatment may depend on whether those services have already been initiated or completed.
Credit Monitoring
Monitoring services may involve recurring subscription charges. Customers may request cancellation of eligible subscriptions, with cancellation timing and any applicable refund determined under the applicable subscription terms.
Credit Education
Educational products, resources, or services may have specific purchase terms depending on the product. Where educational content or services have already been delivered, refund eligibility may be limited by the applicable terms.
5. Recurring Services & Subscriptions
Certain services may be offered on a recurring subscription basis. The applicable billing frequency and recurring amount should be presented during enrollment or checkout.
Customers who no longer want an eligible recurring service should contact us to request cancellation. Unless otherwise stated in the applicable service terms, cancellation is intended to prevent future recurring charges after the cancellation has been processed.
Cancellation does not necessarily reverse charges that were already successfully processed before the cancellation request. Previously processed charges are handled under the applicable refund terms.
6. Duplicate or Incorrect Charges
If you believe you were charged more than once for the same transaction, charged an incorrect amount, or charged for a service you did not authorize, contact us promptly at info@thecreditbuilders.net .
We may request transaction information necessary to investigate the issue. If an error is confirmed, the appropriate correction or refund will be processed according to the circumstances and applicable payment-provider procedures.
7. Failed, Declined, or Returned Payments
A payment may fail, be declined, or be returned because of insufficient funds, bank restrictions, expired payment credentials, incorrect information, payment-provider controls, or other circumstances outside our direct control.
Customers remain responsible for amounts properly owed under their applicable service or account agreement.
Where a payment failure affects an active service, account, or subscription, additional actions may be required to restore or maintain the service.
8. Payment Disputes & Chargebacks
Customers should contact us first when they believe a payment was made in error or when they have a concern about a charge. We will review the issue and work to resolve legitimate billing concerns.
Nothing in this policy limits any rights a customer may have under applicable law or applicable payment-provider rules.
Payment transactions may be processed through third-party payment providers, including Stripe and PayPal, where available. Those providers may have their own payment, dispute, and transaction-processing procedures.
9. Refund Processing Times
Once a refund has been approved and submitted for processing, the time it takes for the funds to appear in the customer's account may depend on the payment method, payment provider, financial institution, and other processing factors.
We cannot guarantee the exact posting date of a refund after it has been submitted to the applicable payment provider.
A refund processed by The Credit Builders may still require additional processing time before it appears on the original payment method.
10. Account Closure or Service Termination
A customer may request closure or cancellation of an eligible service. We may also suspend or terminate services where permitted under the applicable agreement, our Terms & Conditions, or applicable law.
Closing or cancelling a service does not automatically eliminate amounts that were properly due before the effective cancellation date.
For credit-building accounts or services involving third-party providers, additional account-closure procedures may apply. Customers should review their applicable account or program agreement for those requirements.
